The situation

What has happened

Conveyor CV-07 at Goldreef Mining Services, a 1,200 millimetre four ply fabric belt, needs a hot vulcanised step splice on Tuesday under job card JC-26-3320. The crew leader wants you to prepare the job: the splice and step lengths from the splice table, the kit, cement and press, the Job Safety Analysis and the customer's isolation and permit arrangements. One cement lot is quarantined and must not be used. Two weeks ago at the same site the customer's isolation was found on the wrong drive and the crew leader caught it at the isolation test. A warranty repair on another splice traced to an edge that was not fully cured is also fresh in everyone's mind.

Your brief. Prepare the CV-07 splice job to the Hot Vulcanised Fabric Ply Belt Splice Procedure, including the splice geometry, kit and chemical checks, the Job Safety Analysis and the customer isolation arrangements, then carry out and record the splice on site with the crew leader, verifying isolation before applying personal locks and curing to the compound data sheet.

What to look for

Evidence guide

The isolation verification before personal locks is the critical evidence and must include the drive test and belt clamps. Look for splice geometry calculated from the table, the quarantined cement lot excluded, a Job Safety Analysis that covers solvents and the hot press, and cure parameters taken from the compound data sheet with the cool-down rule stated. Records must reconcile with the stock and chemical registers.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
